How Much Will It Cost To Raise A Child In 2011?

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The cost of raising a child continues to climb and parents starting a family this year should be prepared to shell out hundreds of thousands of dollars before their kid even turns 18.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, children who were born in 2010 will cost a middle-income family nearly $227,000. The kicker — that number does not include college tuition.

According to the study, the highest price hikes were in child care, education, health care and transportation.

In 1960, when the first report was issued, it cost slightly more than $25,000 to raise a child to the age of 18.

    @ Mike.

Learn how to spell before you try to slam those different from you. By being the first comment here, all you did was make me feel sorry for your illiterate ass. Typical racist rant. Always looking for a scapegoat to your pathetic existence, blaming those that are different than you.

    • Mike

Believe me our existence is anything but pathetic. But how would you know. You skin colour would not let you into the club.

    • Mike

You aren’t that ” Look at All my Money”
MEXICAN oral surgeon now.Or are you another primitive.
You really got to try and stop making a Stupid if you are trying to impress anyone here.

    • wt

Actually too many people are talking about brown M##nkeys on this forum. So people are spelling it that way now.Checks the other posts.
Run along now little brown chimp.
Stupids are not welcomed here anymore than elsewhere.

Hey El Angelino, Mkie is right. He is not being racist. I am sure that the taxpayer is raising your child because only someone living off the taxpayer would get mad at all the comments.

It is a matter of economics and we cannot afford for people to come across the border and be able to retire here off the taxpayer money.

Browny Spiicc Monkkeyys is quite a new word for some in CA.
But actually it’s being in use for more than 10 years in some parts of polite society.
Of course you Monkkeys wouldn’t know anything about that.

    • Super

It came into use at about 1998 or so.
If you are a curious Spiicc Monkkey.

Now get back to your tree top.

Wow! This saddens me to see such racist comments we should love one another not put eachother down just because the color of our skin. Mike you should not be so angry with the Hispanic people it’s our own government you should be upset with…. I wish everyone a blessed day :)

    • greg

some morons just think that posting the same comments for every story is cute, they do it to get a response, if everyone just stopped posting any reply to them they would stop. I’m sure they post than sort of smile and say “OK, lets see how long it takes to get a reply” haha no reply = no fun for them…give it a try

  • TOBY

It is true what MiKE said. If you are here illegally then the taxpayers really do raise your children. I am hispanic and I can admit that people from Mexico come here for free money. I also know for a fact they illegals have so many children because the government gives them more money for each child they have.

It is not racist. It is the truth.

  • ame

@mike and all the other ignorant, racist, morons who post here. Stop blaming everything on illegals. FYI they can’t get, food stamps, welfare, or any other type of government help. The feds run fingerprints along with ss# before they give anyone anything. Do your research 1st and then talk smack. Maybe what they should do is monitor the welfare and GR given to the homeless, and ppl on food stamps should only be allowed to by healthy food with their ebts. I see homeless people buying drugs, and I see ppl rolling in Land Rovers paying with ebt cards. The whole thing is sad. What sickens me the most is all the hate you disgusting people post. God forbid any child being raised now, grows up with such hate towards other human beings.

      Those aren’t human.

      • josh

Look at what they have done to our society. Our economy. Our quality of life.

You are wrong AMY – Walk into any welfare office, Social Security office, or medical office and you will see more pamphlets in Spanish than English. Illegals receive money, food and medical insurance for their children who are either illegal themselves or anchor babies until the age of 18.
