IDYLLWILD (CBS) —   A truck carrying hay twice lost part of its load on a mountain highway in Idyllwild Friday, halting traffic for several hours the California Highway Patrol reported.

The truck lost a load of 40 bales on State Route 74 just east of McCall Park Road at 10:52 a.m., the CHP reported. Another spill then occurred about three miles down the road.

“A hay truck lost what was securing the hay,” CHP Officer Joe Zagorski said. “There was a spill in two locations.”

As of 2:30 p.m., only one lane of the highway was open. A plow was ordered to help clear the road after the second spill.
