OC Bus Driver Arrested After Woman Claims He Sexually Abused Her Years Ago

GARDEN GROVE (CBS) — A Garden Grove Unified School District bus driver was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of molesting a girl from 1991 through 1998, starting when she was about 5 years old.

Cody Charles Johnson, 47, of Garden Grove, was taken into custody at his home on suspicion of continuous sexual abuse of a child, Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said.

KNX 1070's Mike Landon reports on a school bus driver for special needs children accused of abusing a girl from 1991 through 1998.

Investigators suspect Johnson began molesting the alleged victim, who is now 25 years old, when she was about 5 or 6, Amormino said, and are concerned there may be other cases.

"He molested her about 20 times, possibly more," until she was 11 years old, Amormino alleged.

She contacted authorities on April 27 after learning that Johnson has been driving a bus for the Garden Grove Unified School District since 2005, Amormino said. Prior to that, he worked in the school district's food services division, the spokesman said.

Johnson and the alleged victim knew each other, but authorities declined to reveal any more details about their relationship in order to conceal her identity, Amormino said.

Johnson allegedly molested the girl at his previous residence in Midway City and also in Westminster, Amormino said.
