LAPD Searching For Police Impersonator Allegedly Preying On Young Girls

CHATSWORTH (CBS) — Los Angeles police Wednesday are warning parents about a police impersonator with a fake badge who they believe is preying on young girls.

Police asked for public's help in finding a man who was claiming to be a police officer near Lawrence Middle School in Chatsworth.

Investigators say the suspect tried to arrest a 14-year-old girl and molested another girl after he told her he needed to put a tracking device in her bra.

It was unclear where the 20-something man engaged the girls, but it was apparently near the campus at 10100 Variel Ave., and the first encounter occurred May 23, according to police.

The suspect was believed to be Hispanic or Asian and about 5 feet 5 inches, with brown eyes and brown hair. Anyone with more information about the man was asked to call detectives at (818) 832-0609.
