LOS ANGELES (AP) — Representatives of the porn industry and health care advocates are meeting with state workplace safety officials to discuss draft rules on mandating condoms in adult entertainment.
Several adult film performers voiced objection to the state’s Division of Occupational Safety & Health draft proposal Tuesday, saying their industry was being unfairly scrutinized. They say the hygienic practices of contenders in bloody TV fighting matches don’t face similar regulation.
State workplace safety official Deborah Gold told the meeting that there are already rules governing other forms of entertainment, and the day’s meeting was focused on the porn industry.
The draft rules could later go to the state’s Occupational Safety & Health Standards Board for public meetings and ultimately become new regulations.
