Rays Defeat Slumping Angels 5-1

ANAHEIM (AP) -- David Price took a shutout into the eighth inning, Justin Ruggiano homered and drove in three runs, and the Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Los Angeles Angels 5-1 Monday night.

Price (7-5) allowed five hits and one run in seven-plus innings, struck out seven and walked none. The left-hander struck out the side in the fifth.

The Rays took a 2-0 lead in the first on Matt Joyce's sacrifice fly and Ruggiano's RBI single.

Ruggiano hit his second homer of the season to extend the Rays' lead to 4-0.

He sent a 3-2 pitch from Tyler Chatwood into the Rays' bullpen in left field.

Joyce's RBI single in the seventh made it 5-0.

Chatwood (3-3) gave up nine hits and five runs in seven innings.
