Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Driver Near Santa Clarita

SANTA CLARITA (CBS) — A California Highway Patrol officer Sunday said a Canyon County man was fatally struck by a vehicle on Bouquet Canyon Road near Santa Clarita.

The accident, which was reported about 2:06 a.m., took place on the canyon road at Shadow Valley Lane, CHP Officer Patrick Kimball said.

A Saugus man believed to be traveling about 50 mph in a 1989 Mercedes-Benz struck a 20-something man walking the same direction in dark clothing, Kimball said.

A witness reported seeing the man on the road before the accident.

His body was turned over to coroner's investigators for an autopsy, and his name was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

The driver was not immediately cited in connection with the death.
