Missing Whittier Girl Found Safe In Riverside County

WHITTIER (AP) — Authorities say a 12-year-old Whittier girl who ran away Friday with a 20-year-old man she met on the Internet has been found safe and the man is in custody.

Whittier Police Lt. Carlos Solorza says the girl and Ivan Felipe Cerda were detained by Riverside County sheriff's deputies near Anza late Saturday morning.

They are each being questioned by investigators.

Solorza says the girl appears to be in good physical condition.

The pair met via a social networking feature in the Sony Playstation Internet service.

Cerda was seen driving the girl away from her home Friday afternoon in his 2003 Volkswagen Passat. Police say they briefly stopped at Cerda's mother's home in Vista.

Solorza says it's too early to determine whether Cerda might face charges.
