'Wild Rivers' Water Park Faces Shutdown After Summer
SANTA ANA (CBS) — One of the Southland's most popular water parks may be going dry this autumn to make way for new apartment units.
KNX 1070's Ed Mertz reports plans to close down "Wild Rivers" in Irvine are drawing a less-than-wild response from residents.

For the past 26 summers, residents have kept cool at 20-acre park, but the Irvine company which owns the land said it will have to move once the lease expires October 2.
President Mike Riedel said in the meantime the company is trying to find another location.
"It's a work-in-progress," said Ridell. "We're looking at land in the Great Park."
Still, there's concern among company officials and residents alike over how long it will take to find a new site.
"My kids will probably be too old by the time they build it," said Mary, a local resident who said her kids are currently too little for most of the rides.
Once a site is finally approved, construction would likely take nine months to complete before the park can reopen.
