PALMDALE (AP) — Authorities say homicide detectives are investigating the killing of a man in northern Los Angeles County after a woman called 911 and said she had shot her estranged boyfriend.

Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Gordon says deputies answering the 911 call Sunday found the 48-year-old woman standing outside a house, and inside found her 51-year-old estranged boyfriend with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. He was declared dead at the scene.

Gordon says the woman has been detained while detectives investigate.

No names have been released, and the department offered no further details on the motive or circumstances behind the shooting.
