2 Friends Found Shot Dead Inside Car Along 405 Freeway

LONG BEACH (CBS) — Police said two men were found shot to death inside a sport utility vehicle on the 405 Freeway.

Police found Anaheim resident Reginald "Reggie" Watson Sajonas, 37, and Long Beach resident Derek Alexander Pouono, 36, at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Their bodies were inside an SUV on the northbound shoulder between Atlantic Avenue and the Long Beach (710) Freeway, Long Beach police Sgt. Rico Fernandez said.

Two CHP officers, who arrived shortly afterward, reported hearing gunfire in the area, and closed the freeway in both directions for about five hours.

Fernandez said police are investigating the deaths as a double homicide. Investigators said the shootings may have been a car-to-car attack but haven't confirmed that.

No description of a suspect or suspect vehicle was available.

An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Long Beach Police Homicide Detectives Mark McGuire or Mark Bigel at (562) 570-7244. Those wishing to remain anonymous may submit tips via text or email by visiting the Long Beach Police Department Web site.
