Potentially Damaging Winds Expected Throughout Sunday Evening

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — This weekend marks the unofficial beginning of Summer, but don't tell the calendar as strong and potentially damaging winds are expected around the Southland throughout the weekend.

The National Weather Service says a strong jet stream will move in a southward direction and combine with a northerly surface pressure gradient to produce the wind patters through Sunday.

Particularly strong winds are expected in Los Angeles County, Santa Barbara mountains, Ventura County, Antelope Valley, the Interstate 5 corridor and the Santa Barbara south coast.

Wind advisories remain in effect until midnight Saturday.

High wind warnings remain in effect until Midnight Saturday until 3 a.m. Monday.

The winds are expected to die down sometime Sunday evening.
