3 Residents Injured Battling Sunland House Fire

 

SUNLAND (CBS) — Three people suffered serious burns Friday when they tried to battle a house fire with a garden hose.

The blaze, which was reported at 1:59 a.m. in the 10000 block of Kalua Drive, was knocked down at 2:13 a.m., according to Capt. Sean Hughes of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A 61-year-old man and 63-year-old woman were taken to Holy Cross Hospital, Hughes said. An 83-year-old woman was taken to Pacifica Hospital.

All three of the residents sustained serious burns to their hands, arms, face. They also suffered smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire, which started in the living room, was under investigation, Hughes said.

A damage estimate was not immediately available.
