SAN FRANCISCO (CBS/AP) –The lawyer representing the Stow family, Thomas Girardi told CBS 2 reporter Dave Lopez that Barry Bonds has reached out to the family and plans to pay for the education for both of Bryan’s children. Both kids are currently in grade school.

Giants reliever Jeremy Affeldt also made a surprise visit to the hospital on Tuesday.

Affeldt said he shared a prayer with Bryan Stow and his family. He introduced himself to Stow, held his hand and prayed for a speedy recovery.

Affeldt said Stow opened his eyes and seemed responsive. He presented Stow with a banner from the Giants and gave some team apparel to his family members.

Affeldt had addressed fans along with Dodgers second baseman Jamey Carroll before the teams played shortly after the attack, telling the crowd violence has no place in the rivalry.

The 42-year-old Stow remains in critical but stable condition and is under heavy sedation to prevent seizures caused by the traumatic brain injury.

    Good bless Barry Bonds!

  • Tanya

Thank you Barry Bonds! It’s a shame that none of the Dodgers have put forth any sort of assistance for the family. Let’s hope some Dodgers catch the giving bug.
Oh, and keep your religious mumbo jumbo to yourself. If there was a “god” this wouldn’t have happened in the first place.

    • Rich

How about you keep you useless thoughts about the existence of God yourself
      - GOD BLESS THE STOWE FAMILY! and may God bless you, Tanya

Barry…that shows how much of a Mensch you really are. Not only great on the field but great at heart too.

  • Steve

God loves you Tanya. Read the Bible. Give Him a chance. What have you got to lose? The Bible says “the heart of man is desperately wicked.” (Jeremiah 17:9), and that’s why this story happened.

      nice post.

Mr and Mrs McCourt can start giving too. I do not believe for a moment they are that hard up. The violence must stop. This is probably not the first time it has happened…only the first time when some one has brain damage.

A young man and his brother from Redlands, Ca were attacked by some guys in Dodger Stadium parking lot almost 20 years ago. The younger brother died at the scene. The family owned and operated a pizza restaurant in the area. They were a very close knit family and lived in our neighborhood. They were good kids but did not want to give in when told to hand over their wallets to the thieves. So they beat them both until the younger one died.

steve: you’re never going to win this one with me, especially if you’ve ever eaten shell fish.

It’s commendable that Bonds has done this, but let’s be realistic: he’s doing it to look better to the public after being found guilty for perjury.

  • Mbman

Hate to be cynical but I would wager Bonds will disappear when time comes to write tuition checks many years from now. I will believe it when I see it. Barry what is preventing you from establishing a trust fund for the kids tomorrow?

  • spike

Come on, Tanya: it doesn’t take a Steve-ish Bible thumper to see that you’re the one being unreasonable. How, exactly, does the existence of a couple of thugs repudiate the existence of God? Don’t be so facile in your dismissal. Steve’s point, made in his own special way, is that the existence of God is not incompatible with the existence of free will, and the exercise of free will precipitated this tragedy. Relax a little and get over your seafood fetish- there are reasonable believers out here!

  • Rose

Jamey Carroll and Barry Bonds, thanks for reaching out too this family.

  • GREEN

I can’t believe that with all the nice things people have done for this family….they’re suing….I agree it’s a tragedy, but enough is enough….

  • fastfreddie

  • fastfreddie
