Radio Host Who Predicted End of Days To Speak Out Monday

ALAMEDA (AP) — The radio host who predicted the world would end last Saturday says he’s ready to talk about why the apocalypse didn’t arrive.

Harold Camping declined Monday to immediately comment to The Associated Press at his home, but said he’ll make a full statement in a radio broadcast later in the day.

The 89-year-old Camping told the San Francisco Chronicle on Sunday he was “flabbergasted” his doomsday prophecy did not come true.

Some of Camping’s followers say they are surprised they were not swept up to heaven, after Camping preached for years through his Oakland-based Family Radio International media empire that the Rapture was coming on May 21.

Along with the disappointment, believers who spent their savings to advertise the world’s end are now facing more earthly concerns.

Church People just need too get a life…

  • Rational and smart

    Stupid Christians!

    • Hutton

Hey, don’t lump all us Christians in one boat. I’m a Christian and I sure didn’t fall for this moron of a false prophet’s theory.

  • Sergio

Too funny. Now a bunch of stupid followers are left broke with no money

  • Charles N. King

Mr Camping really needs to study his history. In 1849 there was a huge revival in the US. Out of this revival came many good things such as the birth of the Christian church?Disciples of Christ movement, (a dnomination that my church is part of). But out of that also came a lot of sects that predicted the end of the world just as Mr. Camping has predicted. Although I dthink there needs to be a revival in this country as I think dthere needs dto be a revival world wide, I don’t think arbitrarily sending people sdto hell is going to bring p eople dtssdo Jesus.

What’s too bad is that Camping has given the world another reason to think Christians are wrong about their faith. I think people need to realize that Camping’s prediction has nothing to do with mainstream Christianity. The vast majority of Christians believe that nobody except God the Father knows when the end of the world will come.

Rational is not so smart. You obviously are not familiar with the beliefs of real Christians.

Real Christians know that man cannot predict the the end of the world. The Bible “The day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.”

This so that Philistines and unbelievers like yourself can’t try to profess your belief at the last minute.

At 89, death is imminent so why not make all sorts of dumb predictions?

  • California wil be part of Mexico by 2025

There’s not much left to achieve or accomplish in life when someone’s 89. Been there done that..

    • Hutton

If California will be part of Mexico by 2025, let’s hope Jesus returns before then!

  • California is Already 70% Mexico

At least he’s not like other Cult leaders whose followers/members committed mass suicides on the dates of their predictions.

      YET !!!!!!!!!

  • Mountain Queen

I hope his congregation find new churches where the Truth is taught. It’s very concerning that people even listened to this guy and probably will continue to do so. Remeber, this isn’t the first time he’s gotten this wrong and I’m sure he’s promoting other false doctrine.

I find it amusing–and troubling–that those who have no regard for Christ jump on the bandwagon when some fringe, out-of-touch “prophet” makes such an anti-biblical prediction as Camping has done, but spend no time at all examining in a rational and purposeful way what validity can be presented for the Biblical message as a whole. Why not honestly examine the truth of the Bible instead of raising up your head off the desk every time some nut job gets media attention? You might be surprised at the evidence that is there, evidence you are missing entirely.

Can we sue this group for terrorism?

  • uFools

What is the IDIOT going to say, “Oops, I forgot to carry the zero. The end is near.” This demonstrates the stupidity of people specifically AMERICANS and religion. YOU FOOLS!

  • Briguy

I understand Camping is worth $56 million. I predict he will NOT help his followers get their lives back together. No wonder he didn’t want to give that money away last week… he didn’t believe it either!

  • christine

Obviously Mr. Camping does not know his bible. Matthew 24;36 states that not even the angels in heaven or the Son know but only the Father.

    • Kelly

      Amen Christine!

  • Kelly

ArmyStud??? Are you serious with that name? Okay, well let’s get beyond that and just say that not all Christians fell for this false prophet’s theory. In fact, a true Christian would have kicked him to the curb because it’s stated specifically in the Bible that no man knows the day or hour when Jesus will return. Insofar as for us getting a life…. well we do and it’s built around Jesus Christ and we love it! And we’re looking for his return and hope it’s sooner rather than later.

    • uFools

Tell me Kelly, will know Him when you see Him? How do you know what Him looks like?

  • BD McGee

I believe that the reason the apocalypse did not arrive as scheduled was that it took the 405 freeway which was backed up as usual.
    Should be here shortly.

  • Mexico took back Land in California stolen from us

There is NO GOD, Religion is a Fraud.

  • Gabriel

Well, since modern science debunks all or most of fabled and out dated Christianity and other older or, chuckle, new religions, it is high time we rethink allowing religions and cults from benefiting from tax-free status and eliminate the use of “God” in politics. They don’t belong! Wake up world, especially so called 3rd world nations, we have all outgrown this outdated way of thinking.
