Man Critically Wounded, 2-Year-Old Nephew Killed In Newton Shooting
NEWTON (CBS) — A man in his 30s was critically injured and his 2-year-old nephew killed Monday night, the apparent unintended victims of a shooter as they sat on the porch of a home in South Los Angeles.
The shooting occurred in the 1200 block of East 55th Street, one block east of Central Avenue, about 8:30 p.m., said Officer Karen Rayner of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.
The two were taken to hospitals in separate ambulances, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The uncle and nephew were "unintended victims," and there was no suspect information, Rayner said.
The boy was declared dead at the hospital.
