Trashed OC Home Sells For More Than Listing Price

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBS) — A repossessed house in a swanky Orange County neighborhood, which was vandalized so badly that some thought it might be a tear-down, has sold for more than its listing price, it was reported Saturday.

The Orange County Register reports that tons of trash, some of it moldy from a hot tub that was deliberately left overflowing for months, had to be removed before the house could sell.

The two-story stucco house had cement poured into drains, a floor that caved-in due to the weight of soggy and moldy trash, and vacant spaces where countertops, toilets and other fixtures had been yanked out.

The Register reports that the home on Radcliffe Circle, which sits on a golf course, was listed for sale at $1,142,000 but sold for $1,310,000.

The average home in the subdivision, which has guarded gates and a golf course, sells for more than $1.5 million, the newspaper reported.

There is still no word on who is suspected of committing what may be malicious vandalism, according to the Register.
