Police Search For Driver In Downey Fatal Hit-And-Run

DOWNEY (CBS) — Authorities Saturday sought a hit-and-run driver who killed a 58-year-old man in Downey.

The crash in the 11100 block of Woodruff Avenue occurred about 10:25 p.m. Friday, Downey police Officer Scott Runyan said.

The victim was later identified as Michael Kunkle of Downey, Coroner's Lt. Larry Dietz said.

The suspect reportedly fled the scene, leaving the victim to die, according to police and firefighters.

Police said the suspect was driving a white sport utility vehicle, believed to have noticeable front-end damage and a possible broken windshield.
