Lomita Restaurant To Reopen After Chef Confessed To Wife's Murder

LONG BEACH (CBS) — Less than three months after a investigators dug up the floor of a popular Lomita dining spot in search of the corpse of the owner's wife, the restaurant is set to open up its doors for business as early as this weekend.

KNX 1070's Jon Baird reports David Viens, the owner and chef of Thyme Contemporary Cafe, is charged with murdering his wife Dawn.

Viens reportedly confessed to the killing in March after jumping off a cliff and shattering his legs.

But this week, his family has announced plans to reopen the restaurant on Narbonne Avenue near Lomita Boulevard as soon as unspecified permit issues are resolved.

When asked if she thinks customers would return, David's mother Sandra remains pragmatic.

"The food is good food," she said in a brief interview.

Dawn was last seen Oct. 18, 2009.
