Hahn And Huey In July Runoff For Jane Harman's Congressional Seat

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Republican businessman Craig Huey has beaten California Secretary of State Debra Bowen in a congressional race and will face Los Angeles City Councilwoman Janice Hahn in a July runoff election.

Huey's victory is an upset for Bowen, a political veteran who had been expected to advance to the runoff with Hahn.

With less than 200 votes remaining to be counted, Bowen on Thursday thanked her supporters and conceded defeat.

The runoff will contest Democratic Rep. Jane Harman's congressional seat.

Harman resigned in February to head the nonpartisan Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank.

Huey, who has tea party support, lent his campaign $500,000.
