Registered Sex Offender Accused Of Exposing Self To Teens In Library

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA (CBS) — A registered sex offender accused of exposing himself to teenage girls in a public library was behind bars Tuesday, an Orange County sheriff's spokesman said.

Jail records reveal that 67-year-old Robert Bruce Engel was booked at the Orange County Jail with bail set at $50,000.

Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said a 15-year-old girl alleges that Engel had exposed himself to her on May 9, about 6:30 p.m. while she was at the Rancho Santa Margarita Library. The suspect reportedly left before deputies arrived.

Deputies arrested Engel Monday night after a librarian called investigators to report that he had returned to the library, according to Amormino.

Engel was then taken to a hospital after complaining of heart problems, but was checked out before being jailed, Amormino said.
