UNIVERSAL CITY (CBS) — Red Line passengers getting off a train in Universal City Tuesday reported smelling smoke in the tunnel as they passed under the Hollywood Hills, according to authorities.
At least one railcar was taken out of service due to overheated brakes.
The problem was reported when the train pulled into the North Hollywood station about 4:30 p.m.
Los Angeles firefighters set up a command post at the station, but Metro spokeswoman Gayle Anderson said technicians quickly determined the smell was from overheated brakes.
The car or cars with problems were taken a downtown service yard to be fixed.
