Pro Skateboarder To Get Shot At $1 Million In Orange County

(AP) — Pro street skateboarder Chris Cole will have a chance to win a $1 million bonus this fall in a contest in Orange County.

Sacramento Kings co-owner Joe Maloof came up with the idea of a $1 million bonus for any skater who could win four straight Maloof Money Cups. Cole won his third straight contest last summer, but then joined the rival Street League.

Maloof officials say Cole is contracted to skate Orange County, the fourth Maloof contest this year.

If Cole wins, he’ll get the largest first-place prize of any contest, $250,000, plus the $1 million bonus.

If a skater wins the first three Maloof contests this year, he’ll be eligible to compete with Cole for the $1 million bonus.

@Vanessa B. L.A. Baby: That $1 million is a prize for a highly skilled professional who is one of the best in the world. Also… the money is coming from Mr. Joe Maloof, a private businessman, so…. what do you care about what he does with his ownmoney?! Jealous much? Lol.
