Man Charged With Shooting Deputy With BB Gun

SANTA ANA (AP) — A man has pleaded not guilty to shooting an Orange County sheriff's deputy with a BB gun as he was being evicted from his home.

City News Service says Randal Rose entered not guilty pleas Monday to three felony counts of resisting and deterring an officer by force and misdemeanor counts of brandishing an imitation firearm, assault on a peace officer and battery on an officer.

Prosecutors say Rose refused to come out of the home and fired the pellet gun after deputies entered through a window. One of the deputies was hit in the hand.

Rose was subdued and taken into custody after deputies shot him twice with a Taser.

A judge set bail at $100,000.

Rose faces up to three years in prison if convicted.
