'Granny Bandit' Suspect Pleads Not Guilty To 4 Holdups
FONTANA (AP) — A woman suspected of being the "Granny Bandit" and stealing purses from shoppers at gunpoint in Southern California has pleaded not guilty to four stickups.
The San Bernardino Sun says 50-year-old Dodi Wasbotten of Fontana entered the pleas Monday in San Bernardino County.
A thief dubbed the "Granny Bandit" robbed four women earlier this month outside department stores.
The nickname was based on descriptions of the robber as an older-looking woman, although she concealed her face with sunglasses and a scarf.
Wasbotten was arrested after her car was recognized as matching the description of the robber's getaway vehicle.
Authorities say Wasbotten is a grandmother and has a history of drug and alcohol use.
