Pete Rose Still Wants To Manage In Pro Baseball

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Pete Rose says he still wants to manage someday, and questions why he hasn't gotten a second chance from Major League Baseball to get back into the game after acknowledging he bet on baseball.

The 70-year-old hits king was the keynote speaker Saturday night at a gala of the Ohio Justice & Policy Center. One of the approximately 300 guests was the federal judge who sent him to prison for tax evasion related to his gambling.

The former Cincinnati Reds player and manager accepted a lifetime ban in 1989 for betting on baseball.

He says he has given up on induction to the Hall of Fame, but still wants to manage.

Rose says he deserves another chance from baseball.
