Bomb Scare Briefly Shuts Down Port Of Long Beach
LONG BEACH (CBS) — A shipping container found with the word "bomb" scrawled on it caused a brief scare at the Port of Long Beach on Friday, but was later determined to only contain barbecue equipment, officials said.
KNX 1070's Pete Demetriou reports Long Beach police called out the Los Angeles County bomb squad as well as U.S. Customs officers to investigate the cargo.

"We cordoned off the area, we made sure it was safe for people that were on the terminal, got them out of the way, and then we identified what was in the container," said Dan Kane, assistant director of port security.
The container had come from overseas and was loaded off a ship near Terminal 94, according to reports.
Officials said the area was declared safe shortly before 6 a.m. and the next shift was on the job at 7 a.m.
