Man, 80, Distraught Over Wife's Death Is Reported Missing

SAN FERNANDO (CBS) — An 80-year-old San Fernando man, said to be distraught over the recent death of his wife, is missing, according to police.

Guadalupe Esquivel left his home in the 1300 block of Griffith Street about 10:15 a.m., said Sgt. Nichole Hanchett of the San Fernando Police Department.

He has been distraught since his wife died and left behind a note and money that made police concerned for his physical safety, she said.

Esquivel has diabetes, for which he regularly takes medication, and family members believe he may be suffering from the early symptoms of Alzheimer's disease, the sergeant said.

He was wearing dark prescription glasses, a blue denim jacket, a red polo shirt, blue denim pants and white shoes.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts was asked to call (818) 898-1267.
