Child Annoyance Cases Reported In Mission Viejo, Santa Clarita

SANTA CLARITA (CBS) — Two unrelated cases of child annoyance, namely men in cars following young boys, were reported Tuesday in Santa Clarita and Mission Viejo.

In the Santa Clarita case, detectives are looking for the driver of a 1980s silver Honda who followed a 13-year-old boy.

The driver, described only as a man in his 50s, followed the child near Avenida Navarre and Carrizo Drive in Valencia about 7:30 a.m., said Lt. Tom Bryski of the sheriff's Santa Clarita Valley Station.

The boy and the driver did not talk.

Anyone with additional information on the incident was asked to call (661) 255-1121.

Meanwhile, in Mission Viejo,  Orange County sheriff's deputies were looking for a man who tried to lure a 9-year-old boy into his pickup truck this afternoon.

The boy was walking home from school in the 24000 block of Via Alcala about 4:20 p.m. when a man attempted to get the boy in his truck, Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said.

"He told him four times to, `Get in my truck,' " Amormino said.

The boy ignored him and kept walking home, Amormino said.

When a neighbor, who heard the man, and the boy's mother confronted the man he drove away in his truck, Amormino said.

The suspect is a Latino man about 40 to 50 years old who is bald and has no lower teeth, Amormino said. He was driving an older model, rust-colored Ford pickup truck "with a bunch of junk in the bed" and has an "8" and "K" in the license plate number, Amormino said.
