Suspect Killed In Pico-Union OIS, Stabbing Victim Also Dead

PICO-UNION (CBS) — Police responding to a call about a possible stabbing victim shot and killed a suspect who was holding a knife after he reportedly charged at officers.

LAPD Olympic Division officers responded to the assault with a deadly weapon (ADW) call just after 1:30, sources tell KCAL9 News.

One victim was discovered with fatal stab wounds in the front yard of the property located in the 1500 block of Arapahoe Street.

The stabbing victim has reportedly been identified as the suspect's mother. An older woman, believed to be the dead woman's mother, was also stabbed. The alleged suspect's grandmother was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition.

Police said they were clearing the front of the house when the suspect came from the rear of the property holding a knife.

The suspect was asked to drop the knife but police said, instead, the unidentified male charged at them.

The suspect was shot and declared dead at the scene, according to authorities.

It was not immediately clear how many times the suspect was shot.
