Man Found Dead On Mid-City Street

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A man was found dead by a dogwalker early Sunday morning near Fairfax Avenue and Olympic Boulevard, police said.

The man, described as in his 30s and with no apparent gang affiliation, was a resident of the Packard Street neighborhood and may have been accosted while walking from his car to his house, Sgt. Renee McAlonis said.

Neighbors told police that they may have heard gun shots around 1 a.m. in the area near where the man was found.

Police detectives were investigating the murder on Packard Street between Stanley and Spaulding avenues. The middle-class neighborhood is near the "Little Ethiopia" row of shops on Fairfax Avenue at Olympic Boulevard.

The victim's name was not released.
