Wife Of Oceanside Police Chief To Stand Trial In Shooting
SANTA ANA (AP) — The wife of Oceanside Police Chief Frank McCoy will stand trial on charges of shooting at officers outside the couple's Orange County house.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that a judge ruled Friday that there's enough evidence to try 48-year-old Brinda McCoy.
She is accused of calling 911 to ask for help last December, and then opening fire police officers during a standoff outside her home in Cypress.
McCoy is charged with seven felony counts, which carry a maximum penalty of 58 years in prison if convicted.
The trial is slated to begin May 17.
