Suspect Surrenders After 3-Hour Standoff In Panorama City

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A man held Los Angeles police officers at bay for more than three hours Friday before surrendering peacefully.

The incident began just after noon when police were called out to Arleta Avenue and Roscoe Boulevard in Panorama City on a report of a man being violent, LAPD Sgt. Barbara Riggs said.

Riggs said the man threatened officers and ran away, barricading himself inside a garage.

"They set up a perimeter and SWAT was called in because they believed he was armed," Riggs said. "While SWAT was setting up, he walked out and turned himself in."

The man's name was not immediately released.
