Body In Coachella Corn Field Identified As Missing Indio Teen

INDIO (CBS) — A body found earlier this week in a corn field in Coachella as that of a 19-year-old Indio woman who had been reported missing.

The body, identified by the county coroner's office as Karina Sepulveda, was discovered Wednesday near Prime Time DAFCO Ranch at Fillmore Street and 50th Avenue.

Sepulveda was reported missing to the Indio Police Department on Monday, sheriff's Deputy Herlinda Valenzuela said.

Her body was found around 2 p.m. Wednesday by farm workers. The death was deemed suspicious and the sheriff's Central Homicide Unit launched an investigation.

No further details on Sepulveda's death were released because the investigation is ongoing, sheriff's Sgt. Todd Torrenti said.
