LOS ANGELES (CBS) — It looks like more of Southern California’s tourists are heading for the border.
KNX 1070′s Tom Reopelle reports a new national survey ranks San Diego far above Los Angeles for the nation’s best vacation spots.
The list from U.S. News & World Report of the “21 Best U.S. Vacations” ranks San Diego the third best vacation spot in the U.S. and the 18th best in the world.
The city also nabbed the eighth spots on the “Best Spring Vacations” and “Most Relaxing Beaches” lists and 10th on the list of “Best Adventure Vacations” in the U.S.
As for the City of Angels, it’s ranked as the world’s 24th “Best Place To Visit” — one spot lower than Las Vegas but right before Austin, Texas.
Los Angeles also took the 24th spot on the list of “World’s Best Places to Visit”, 17th on the list of “Best US Vacations,” and sixth on the list of Best Summer Vacations.
Its best showing came among the “Best Shopping” cities in the U.S., coming in second behind New York City.
Paris topped the list as the best vacation spot in the world, while the top two U.S. destinations were San Francisco and Washington, D.C.
