Murder Suspect Found Dead On Mount Wilson

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A Huntington Beach man suspected in the shooting death of a hiking buddy was found dead from what appeared to be self-inflicted bullet wound to the head, authorities confirmed Tuesday.

Kevin Wolfe Pochter, 53, who was being sought in Thursday's shooting death Dean Ron Albert, also 53, was found dead by another hiker about 8:30 a.m. Monday, sheriff's deputies said.

Albert was shot along Big Santa Anita Canyon Road near Chantry Flats in the Angeles National Forest.

Sheriff's detectives offered no motive, but said the two men had been friends since high school.

A handgun was found near Pochter's body, and sheriff's Capt. Mike Parker said the death appeared to be a suicide. The body was found near where Albert was shot.

After the Thursday afternoon shooting, Pochter apparently drove Albert's silver-colored 1993 BMW 740i to Mount Wilson.
