LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A team of CIA officers and elite Navy Seals have killed Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden just five months before the 10-year anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Bin Laden was killed during an assault in Islamabad, Pakistan.

“Justice has been done,” President Barack Obama said Sunday night in his address to the nation from the White House.

Crowds immediately gathered to sing “God Bless America” and the national anthem Sunday night in Washington, D.C., and in locations throughout New York City, including Ground Zero.

There are concerns, however, about possible retaliation from Al Qaeda, which has prompted a travel alert at LAX, as well as airports across the country.

During the Musharraf regime many speculated that Osama Bin laden might in fact be living in Musharraf’s house as a guest. The speculation has turned out to be nearly true.

It is simply inconceivable that Osama Bin laden living in a mansion near Islamabad will be possible without the knowledge of the Pakistani authorities.

The most likely scenario is that when the CIA spotted OBL with clinching evidence the Paki authorities had no option but to admit and provide tacit help …… ! Officially though they would try to distance themselves from the operations and raise the issue of “sovereignty”.

Either way, Pakistan remains exposed now …. !

I “HOPE” he is dead and believe he is dead but not convinced it happened how/when they are reporting. I just don’t know why the government would “bury his body at sea” instead of giving the Americans who lost so much at his hands, the pleasure of seeing his cold, dead, emaciated and mangled body first. Then … throw him to the sharks. I’m not a conspirary theorist – - but this part of it just doesn’t make sense.

i tend to agree with you MG on your point about letting the familys of 9-11 see his body however we did just that with husain’s sons and the backlash was more then it was worth in muslim law if im not mistaken there is a very limited list of people allowed to see a dead body this list would include the clergy and his/her imediate family (meaning the dead persons family) so i think they did nnot show the body for that reason as for why at sea? that was an obvious attempt to not provide a RALLY POINT for his supporters to gather at i really think this is one of those DAMNED IF YOU DO AND DAMNED IF YOU DONT CASES there is no RIGHT way to do it that is going to make everyone happy

OBL practiced “Radical Islam” which is not endorsed by a great majority of those practicing the Religion. Therefore, a burial at sea should not have been a requirement. Now, there will always be doubters. They should have brought his body to the USA and provided it as proof for any governing body that requests it.

Cried on 9/11 and cried again yesterday. I am happy Bin Laden is gone although I know it doesn’t mean what he started is over. I hope some of the 9/11 loved ones have found some relief and I hope that our (US) Arab-Americans will now be able to live their lives in peace.

I think rather than celebration, we as Christians should mourn Osama Bin Ladan’s death. War, terrorism, assassinations, etc, are but reminders that we live in a broken world and should point us to the need of the Prince of Peace Jesus Christ. Is your heart heavy? It should be.

However, we are still in the flesh, or to put it bluntly, WE ARE HUMAN, AND WE AIN’T PERFECT. Yes, the world needs Jesus.

I was pensive about yesterdays news & felt sadness. I kept thinking has everyone forgotten “Thou shalt not kill”? Finally. One chapter closed, but, the story of teror goes on. I fear we’re never going to escape this novel that’s being written unti the writer finisheds this terrifying novel that’s being written. Will it ever end? Who’s to say? It took nearly a decade to finish just this chapter. it’s the rest of the story that’s giving me ulcers. The war will continue over decades, something we have never been through, and certainly, looking forward to a better ending, we hope. My heart goes out to those who suffered through this ghastly literical verbage that has costed the readers in blood. and bodies. I just hope this author has the decency to end it soon. What my biggest fear is, and what is also on our collective mindset is, what’s going to happen next? Who is going to blind side us when we least expect it? well, I’m all out of Tums, and my stomach is already ruined since 9-11. If it’s going to happen, let’s make sure the perpetrator has a ringside seat waiting for them in Tartarus, to see their champion, Bin laden, being roasted alive on a spit, and being cooked to death by the blood of the innocent, soldiers, and victims of this gothic tale being still spun.
