It is all well & good to say, “Adopt! Adopt! Adopt!” Howver, they should also be pressing for more rental housing that allows pets. LA is a very difficult city to find housing when one has a dog or dogs. Cats are a little easier, but many rentals won’t even allow birds or fish. A lot of this is not reluctance on the owners’ part, because that can often be solved with a bond in case of damages. The real stumbling block is liability insurance. We all know that various insurance companies will not insure certain breeds (& the choices seem to be random). None will insure pits, but some will insure Chows, but not Dobermans. Others will cover Dobermans, but refuse any bully breed (including little French Bulldogs, slow lazy English Bulldogs… & even Pugs & Puggles). It is so confusing for landlords & the consequences so great in the event of any dog related injury (even just tripping over the leash), that they simply put up a sign “NO Pets! No exceptions!”

Many of the people out there living in cars & RVs are doing so because they won’t give up their pets, but they can find no place affordable to live. Unfortunately, when children are involved, the devotion to the pet will be sacrificed.

If you want to tackle adoption…. tackle housing, too.

I love animals two but I can see why “No dogs allowed” most of you dont take the time to train the dogs not to bark….Around me are several houses…maybe 2 to 4 dogs in some….and others are one….but for 12 hours plus a day…they constantly bark….even in the late hours of the night….Having a nice meeting with the owner only gets spit thrown in your face…so get the dogs trained and please do not abuse them in the process!
