Police Hunt For Hiker In Fatal Forest Shooting Of 'Lifelong' Friend

PASADENA (CBS) — The search for a suspected killer was underway in the Angeles National Forest on Monday.

KNX 1070's Ed Mertz reports police say the victim was a "lifelong" friend of 55-year-old Kevin Wolfe Pochter.

Pochter is wanted for the shooting death of Dean Ron Albert, whose body was found last Thursday in a recreation area near Sierra Madre.

Police said the suspect was last seen Saturday night heading into the mountains above Arcadia and Monrovia.

Deputy Lillian Peck says the search is a difficult and dangerous one.

"[Pochter] is considered an experienced hiker," Peck said. "We have several teams out looking for him or any evidence that he may have left behind."

Peck warned that Pochter is considered armed and dangerous.
