Firefighters Battle 30-Acre Brush Fire On Catalina Island

AVALON (CBS) — A brush fire broke out behind the Catalina Yacht Club on Catalina Island Monday and has burned about 30 acres so far, according to Inspector Matt Levesque of the county fire department.

Authorities said three helicopters are on scene with local firefighters, but a barge is transporting about 65 firefighters from the Los Angeles Harbor.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.

No injuries or structural damage were reported.

No word on when the fire will be fully contained.
