High Winds Cause Electrical Cable Break And Fires
RIVERSIDE (CBS) — Forecasters with the National Weather Service Saturday issued high wind warnings for the entire Inland Empire, and red flag warnings were posted for the desert from Indio east to Arizona.
Winds were expected to reach speeds of 25-35 miles per hour with gusts as strong as 65 mph, Noel Isla, a NWS forecaster, said.
The NWS warning says such strong wind could cause problems for high profile vehicles traveling through the area, especially on freeways. The warning is set to expire at 2 p.m.
The red flag warning for eastern Riverside County and the Colorado River Valley warned that "the combination of strong gusty winds, very low relative humidity and high fire danger will create hazardous fire weather conditions."
