GLENDORA (CBS) — An accident involving a Wal-mart big rig and several cars closed a portion of the westbound 210 Freeway Friday morning.

The accident happened just before 5 a.m., east of Grand Ave. Los Angeles fire officials say the big rig collided with three vehicles, seriously injuring at least one person.

Officials say two people were taken by helicopter to County USC Hospital; another person was transported to a Foothill area hospital. Their conditions have not been released.

All lanes on the 210 Freeway were reopened at 6:52 a.m. after a Sig Alert was canceled.

I have seen vehicles roll all the way over and land upright on their wheels. It could have rolled all the way over (although there isn’t much evidence of that in the picture)

I hear you Ralph. I passed by that Wal-Mart truck right after it happened and it was CLEARLY on its wheels. Furthermore, the debris was not spread over a wide area suggesting that it rolled. Also, it didn’t appear as though the truck was traveling at a high rate. It looked like to the cars collided and then truck collided trying to avoid them. Otherwise, the occupant would NOT have made it at all.

I must not have read the same news report as you. The report I read does not say anything about the truck rolling over. Where did you read that?

That’s a Wal-Mart truck not Swift. Swift doesn’t run that style of Peterbilt.

Slow down & pay attention. At 5am on that w210 route, there shouldn’t be any heavy traffic.

Did you know most of the walmart truck driver drive pretty scary, especially when they’re change lane.
I hope walmart will reconsider again with all their truck driver.

It’d happened to me last summer I’m almost got in to accident.
The walmart truck just change lane withou any signal or wait until has enough room to move they’re just did it so careless ((( !

And loaded with 80.000 pounds … Pure BS. The total gross weight of the cargo and truck MIGHT be 80,000 pounds but I’ll Bet it is nowhere even close. these reporters are full of poop.

Once again a freaking truck driver…probably fell asleep.. Too many big rig accidents lately. Are the companies hiring incompentent , ill trained , careless drivers or what .

It’s easy to blame the truck but it looks like in this case the driver of the car was careless/speeding and caused the whole thing

The accident was not the truck drivers fault. I was there…also the CHP saw the accident as it was happening from the eastbound lanes. One of the cars lost control, hit another then spun in front of the truck. The truck driver had no place to go when the car moved into his path!

My brother’s coworker had family from Guatemala visiting. It was his brother, sister and the sister’s 4 kids. The van, which was a rental was the vehicle that rolled over. His sister died, doa at the hospital. The kids and the brother are in critical condition. They were on their way to Magic Mountain. The husband is aware that his wife is dead and has flown up to take care of his kids.
