Red Cross Helping Thousands Devastated By Tornadoes

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The Red Cross wasted no time in coming to the aid of thousands of Americans devastated Wednesday by a series of killer storms and deadly tornadoes that wrecked havoc, destroyed homes, buildings and left inestimable damage in their wake.

The Red Cross also set up more than 60 shelters in Alabama, Indiana, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Arkansas and Texas.

We in Southern California know many of you want to know how you can help. The many e mails you sent suggest as much.

The Red Cross depends on financial donations to help in times of disaster, both here in the United States and around the world.

Those who want to help can make a donation to support American Red Cross Disaster Relief. To make a donation, visit www.redcross.org or call 1-800-RED-CROSS. Contributions may also be sent to local American Red Cross chapters or to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013.
