McCourt: MLB Commissioner 'Ducking' Me

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Embattled Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt sounded a defiant tone on Thursday, calling out baseball's top executive and vowing not to let the team's new monitor control his finances.

KNX 1070's John Brooks reports Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig says Tom Scheiffer will oversee the day-to-day operations and must approve any expenditure over $5,000 — but McCourt has other plans.

McCourt told CNBC that he will let Schieffer in only as an observer, and he blames Selig for blocking a $3 billion TV deal.

"The only thing preventing me from accessing that capital is Commissioner Selig," McCourt said. "He's not returning my calls, and I just want to know why he's ducking me."

CNBC reporter Darren Rovell told KNX 1070 that McCourt is still on the defensive about some questionable loans he reportedly took out from the team treasury.

League officials say the TV deal with Fox is on hold until the monitor examines the Dodgers' finances.
