Woman, Possibly Deaf, Shot And Killed By Officers In Watts

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A woman police say shot at her daughter and grandchildren in Watts was shot and killed in an officer-involved shooting Wednesday night, authorities said.

The woman may have been deaf, and did not not hear police calling on her to put her gun down, according to KCAL9.

The incident occurred on the woman's porch, according to authorities.

The woman was taken to a hospital. The LA Times reported the woman died at the scene.

Officers were called about 7:15 p.m. to the 10000 block of South Anzac Avenue, near Century Boulevard, said Officer Karen Rayner of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.

It was the second deadly OIS in Watts Wednesday. Jose A. Solario, 46, was shot and killed by police around 8:25 a.m. after failing to drop a weapon, officials reported.
