LOS ANGELES (AP) — The man appointed to oversee the Los Angeles Dodgers’ daily operations says he has yet to be fully briefed on the team’s finances and is looking forward to meeting with owner Frank McCourt.
Tom Schieffer made his first appearance in Los Angeles on Wednesday. The former Texas Rangers president says his role is to monitor the Dodgers on behalf of Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig.
Schieffer met the media at a hotel near Los Angeles International Airport after McCourt held his own news conference in New York. McCourt’s remarks delayed Schieffer’s appearance at the podium by nearly 30 minutes.
McCourt was across the country to meet with Major League Baseball officials, although Selig was not present.
