Protest Calls For Turkey To Recognize Armenian Genocide

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Hundreds of Armenian Americans and their supporters spent Easter Sunday protesting outside the Turkish consulate, pushing for the Turkish government to recognize the Armenian genocide of 1915 and for President Obama to weigh in on the issue.

The Armenian Youth Federation organized Sunday's protest that had members chanting in unison, many carrying signs as well as Armenian and American flags.

The group is seeking justice for their countrymen massacred by the Turks nearly a century ago.

The Turkish government continues to refuse to recognize the massacre and has reportedly tried to influence other world powers to do the same.
