Church Congregation Rises From The Ashes
HACIENDA HEIGHTS (CBS) — A church ravaged by a fire didn't stop a Hacienda Heights congregation from celebrating Easter Sunday.
Last weekend, the cathedral at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, in Hacienda Heights, suffered $8 million in damage from what investigators say was an intentionally set blaze.
The fire was set shortly after midnight at 1345 Turnbull Canyon Road, burning for about 2 1/2 hours before county fire crews were able to quench it.
The fire caused pain in the hearts of parishioners, who are now raising money to rebuild the church.
KNX 1070's Ed Mertz reports.
