LOS ANGELES (AP) — Officials from the oldest African-American church in Los Angeles have called on a local Republican official to resign after she sent an offensive email about President Barack Obama.

First AME Church Pastor John J. Hunter is demanding that Marilyn Davenport step down from the GOP’s Orange County Central Committee after she emailed a message depicting Obama’s face superimposed over a baby chimp’s.

The senior minister of the 19,000-member church is also demanding an apology from the Republican Party.

Hunter and other community leaders will publicly call for Davenport’s resignation Friday.

The head of Orange County’s GOP has pressured Davenport to resign but said a recall isn’t feasible because of the expense.

Davenport has said she had no racist intentions when she sent the email.

I agree. I am a white man who works as a substitute teacher in LA, mainly in schools that have significant black populations. The racist comments and hatred they spew towards me in unbelievable. I am not exaggerating. They get away with it because they’re black. The middle-aged black teachers and office secretaries are the worst, especially the women. DOUBLE STANDARD!!

I m sorry, but what I find offensive it that no one finds this funny! and it would be funny even if it were any ones face was put on the picture! when ever any white person is made fun of you never find the white people upset and picket and yell that its discrimination. It also would have been funny to see peanuts out on the front lawn of the White House.
