1 Dead, 2 Injured After Boat Capsizes Near Seal Beach

SEAL BEACH (AP) — Authorities say one man died, a boy was slightly hurt and another man was uninjured when their boat capsized near Seal Beach.

Orange County sheriff's spokesman Dan Salcedo says the three were in an 18-foot boat Thursday afternoon when it capsized. The older man and an 8-year-old boy were trapped beneath the boat as it washed toward shore, while the boy's father was thrown clear of the boat.

The Orange County Register says the dead man was identified as 75-year-old Randale Walker of Whittier, a friend of the father.

Witnesses told investigators a wave may have rolled the boat over.

Coroner's officials say an autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of Walker's death.
